I studied at Ossett School, where I achieved all 11 GCSE's grades A to C. I studied a range of subjects including; Geography, Maths and Science, however my favourites were Graphic Design, Business and ICT.
I therefore decided to study these subjects for my A-Level's. While studying for my ICT A-Level I carried out an assignment where I had to design and build a website for Ossett Sixth Form. I really enjoyed this part of the course and therefore decided I would like to study Web Design at University.
I have learnt so many new skills over the past two years on the course. Most of which I didn't even realise you could learn, such as typography. I thought I was just going to sit at a computer and learn how to build a website, however there was so much more to it. I really enjoyed working with InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator and I know these are the skills which I will take away with me and use in the future.
There are quite a few things that I have enjoyed while on the course, but if I had to name just one I would probably pick the last assignment. This is the PPD4 module where we had to design and then build our online portfolio. I really enjoyed putting all the skills that I have learnt over the two years into practice.
There have been a number of areas which I have struggled with throughout the course. Firstly, in the development modules where I had to design and then build a website, I really struggled to be able to design a website because I kept thinking about how to build it. I didn't want to create something with too many hard bits as this would mean I might not be able to build it or it would take me too long.
Another area which I struggled with while on the course was that I often compared myself to others. There are a number of people on the course who already have experience in the industry and therefore are better than me, I did compare myself to these people and it did knock my confidence.
